Dr. M. D. Young, OD, PA

Dr. Micheline D. Young has been improving the way Central Texans “see things” for over 18 years. After graduating as a New York high school Regents Scholar, Dr. Young attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, where she received a Bachelors of Science in Zoology. While in Amherst, Dr. Young became involved in visual neurobiology research and had the honor of working under the world renowned visual neurobiologist, Prof. Katherine V. Fite, PhD, publishing results in the journal, Brain, Behavior, and Evolution.

Pursuing more clinical interests in vision, she came to Texas to attend the University of Houston College of Optometry where she received her Doctorate of Optometry. While there, she continued her research and clinical studies in projects on auditory biofeedback of congenital nystagmus patients, auto kinesis and threshold movement detection, and a retrospective case study of radial keratotomy patients. During her tenure at the College of Optometry, Dr. Young was awarded several research fellowships, was published in Optometry News and was awarded the Harold Kohn Memorial Optometric Foundation Award.

After marrying a native Texan, Dr. Young calls Texas home and came to Cove Optical, now Cove Eyecare, where she continues to provide the area with the professionalism and excellence that has become her trademark. In Dr. Young’s words, “My fascination with our sense of sight has motivated me to pursue a career in vision since childhood. I consider myself privileged because there is no greater reward than helping my patients maximize their vision and maintain the health of their eyes.”

When away from the office, Dr. Young enjoys hiking and kayaking on her rural ranch, training in competitive dog sports, SCUBA and waterskiing.
